there is no escaping now, i am cooking everyday! i am making progress it seems, and for days now, i've tried to follow Pioneer Woman's recipes, so i think i'm getting the hang of it. and most importantly, the husband is fed and satisfied. and i'm feeling more like giada de laurentiis. have you seen her cook? so effortless, her face made-up, and she doesn't have issues like a burned finger, or sucking an itty bitty knife cut on her fingertips. i want to be like her. the way she's talking about her cooking, i can almost smell and taste it. so there. i'll let you know if i can pull off a giada meal soon.
kj and i were talking about potatoes, how i would want to buy the clean, large ones soon. we bought a big bag of potatoes last week and i didn't read well the packaging of course, so i went home with the dirty small ones. they're much cheaper i suppose, but it took a lot of time to clean them up and peel. ten potatoes later and i had several small cuts from the knife because the only peeler we have here is not sharp at all.
so as i was saying to kj, i want the clean potatoes next time then i can just boil or bake them, skin and all. and he asked me why would i want to include the skin? i said because the skin has vitamins too! (i'm not sure about that, but it would be much easier to peel them off when cooked) he was silent for a moment, but begged to just peel off the skin anyway, whether we buy the clean or dirty ones, because he saw once in a tv show an expose about some farmers who just pee on the middle of the potato field when nature calls. ewwwwww. is that true? anyone who's seen that show? how do you cook your potatoes?
maybe we just stick to rice? (i've never cooked rice here by the way. not yet at least.)
now, i'm off to bed. i hope you all had a wonderful wednesday!
